GWR invites Valentine messages

GWR invites St Valentine’s Day messages for virtual ‘Love Train’

Great Western Railway is playing Cupid this St Valentine’s Day by offering its social media channels as a platform for people to share declarations of love.

The train operator wants to create a virtual #GWRLoveTrain by inviting some of its more romantic followers to share messages of love online.

Matchmakers within GWR’s social media team will then post the romantic anecdotes to be shared with its army of nearly 800,000 followers.

Listen to our Train Manager David Shelley's on board #GWRLoveTrain announcement here.

GWR’s Head of Communications Dan Panes said:

“Lockdown is going to make some of the more imaginative St Valentine’s Day gestures a little difficult this year. In the past our trains, stations and romantic destinations have proved popular places to propose.

“That’s not going to be possible this year, so if you love trains almost as much as your other half, why not use our virtual #GWRLoveTrain as a platform to tell someone just how much you love them?”

Anyone keen to deliver a romantic message on the #GWRLoveTrain should email gwrsocialmedia@gwr.com no later than Wednesday 10 February.

GWR is operating a reduced timetable during the latest national lockdown and customers should follow Government guidelines, only travelling for work if essential or for other legally permitted reasons. Find out more at gwr.com/safety.

The train operator has been providing rail services throughout the pandemic and has worked to ensure these are as safe as possible. This includes increased cleaning regimes and the use of a virucidal spray; extra staff at key stations to offer help and guidance; and processes in place to help customers maintain a safe distance where possible, such as restricting the number of reservations available.
